OptiProERP’s Latest 2023 R1 Release: New Container Management and CAPA Functionality

2023 R1 OptiProERP is now available with a new application and valuable features for more significant user benefits. Read on to learn the key features of this new release.

New Container Management Application

A new application, Container Management, will allow companies to manage shipping or receiving containers. Container management functionality makes maintaining transparent visibility throughout each stage of a shipment’s voyage simple.

When receiving a container, it can be created in the system, and all information obtained from the vendor(s) about its contents can be entered. Add all open PO lines with quantities loaded to the container. The container can be tracked, and when it arrives, the contents can be directly received in the system, creating the Receipt document and impacting the inventory automatically without any manual intervention.

The container origination location, shipping date, destination port, when it is expected to reach the port, and the final destination can all be entered. If the status of the shipment changes, the container status can be updated in the system. Additionally, you can update the purchase order lines that correlate to the container with expected receipt dates with the push of a button and mark them as received. Again, that information will be updated across the system. Also, containers can be received with items from multiple vendors.

When shipping a container, you can estimate what will fit in it based on the weight and dimensions of each item. It will calculate that information to help you determine what will fit inside. For example, you can create a container with eligible lines selected from different sales orders to a customer. The container can be tracked from when it is loaded until it reaches its final destination.

New CAPA Functionality

Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) functionality has been added to the Quality Management module to capture information for that quality process. The functionality provides businesses with help to determine the problem, identify the root cause and the corrective or preventative action(s), and track all of the details about the incident.

CAPA functionality is organized into different tabs:

  • Origin: This tab captures the current CAPA record being created. It also captures all the necessary details of the complaint and the source of the complaint.
    • Category
    • Assigned to
    • Doc Ref Type (i.e., sales return)
    • Doc Number
    • CAPA details
  • Investigation: This tab captures all investigation details directly or indirectly related to the part/process related to the complaint.
  • Corrective Action: This tab captures all the details of the corrective action plan to correct the part or process related to the complaint.
  • Preventive Action: This tab captures the steps taken to prevent the issue from recurring again in the future.
  • Verification: This tab captures the comments and observations made by the person who has verified all the details and approved the CAPA.

All pertinent information collected and collated in CAPA analysis and implementation can be summarized and attached to the CAPA record. In addition, the verification tab provides information on what has been done to correct the problem and whether the issue is a one-time or more significant situation. With this CAPA functionality, the root cause of compliance issues can be identified to avoid repeating mistakes. It also helps to uphold your brand’s reputation and customer satisfaction.
