Ontario manufacturer streamlining operations to capitalize on Canadian tax, growth initiatives
Irvine, CA – March 15, 2023 – M.I.S. Electronics Corp., an Ontario, CN-based printed circuit board manufacturer, is deploying OptiProERP with SAP Business One to handle its rapid growth and manufacturing operations.
Updating its ERP to a modern business system is part of M.I.S. Electronics’ digital transformation, including a multi-million-dollar investment in new manufacturing equipment and technologies. The company plans to participate in recently announced Canadian manufacturing incentives and grow as more and more firms relocate manufacturing operations from China and Asia to North America.
“With recent changes to the global economy, strained supply chain challenges, and capacity limitations by parts manufacturers around the world, a new ERP was required with full capabilities,” says Saeid Mohmedi. M.I.S. Electronics founder. “With many more companies interested in making Canada home for their manufacturing, we have an opportunity to expand our service offerings and meet this new global demand.”
For the past 17 years, M.I.S. Electronics operated on a legacy ERP that required a lot of customization and didn’t meet its quoting, operations, or efficiency needs as it grew larger. For example, the legacy system did not meet the company’s multi-batch customer requirements in manufacturing and deliveries and required many workarounds that wasted time.
People Key to ERP Choice
M.I.S., which has been recognized with an Ontario Business Achievement Award, evaluated several ERPs with manufacturing functionality and chose OptiProERP with SAP Business One. In addition to OptiProERP, they looked at Acumatica, Syspro, Oracle, Oracle NetSuite, and Microsoft Dynamics.
“It is easy for a business to create the right tools and product-oriented solutions for clients,” says Mohmedi. “However, it is how the business thinks ongoing, how the business cares about the future of the industry and its customers, and how the business moves to ensure success is created for all. The people at OptiProERP aligned with our approach to business. At the same time, we believe OptiProERP is scalable, flexible, and supports our long-term vision.”
Efficient Manufacturing Operations
Once implemented, the M.I.S. Electronics team looks forward to using a single, connected system that helps employees save time, boost productivity, and operate more efficiently with a modern warehouse management system.
Most importantly, they look forward to having access to real-time information, including inventory on hand and historical price data, which will allow them to provide customer quotes faster and make data-driven decisions. Having deep data insights will allow M.I.S. Electronics to better understand the profitability of its customers and products and will help them be more competitive.
“OptiProERP has a lot of modules that include best practices in the platform as well as automations, which greatly reduces the need for customization,” says Maryam Afshar, general manager and co-owner. “With its integration with SAP Business One and operations in a single system, departments will know what’s going on when processes are happening, not hours or days later.”
In today’s global environment and supply chain disruptions, customers need to work with flexible manufacturers that offer batch processing or the ability to make small runs of, say, 1,000 or 10,000 circuit boards in a specified time frame when, for example, parts shortages hamper or delay a larger production run. Customers need reliable, real-time status updates and manufacturers that can flex operations when required.
“Timing is very important in our business,” Mohmedi says. “We know OptiProERP has the functionality to allow proactive management of clients, when we combine these features with the excellent service from our people, we believe MIS will win more business.”
