Growth, digital transformation drive Napoleon/Lynx to Deploy Modern ERP for Manufacturing

Napoleon/Lynx serves the U.S. and Canada through its operations in Phoenix, AZ, Carlstadt, NJ, and Archbold, OH in the U.S. and in Mississauga, ON and ST-Lambert, QC in Canada. Napoleon is one of the most complete manufacturers of garage doors, hardware, springs, sectional doors, and garage door openers in the world.

With more than 500,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing facilities and distributors in over 40 countries, the company needed an improved inventory system and was increasingly reliant on a homegrown system, spreadsheets and disconnected software systems.

“We had difficulty maintaining inventory, our accounting system wasn’t integrated, and we ran into communication roadblocks due to the inconsistencies of our information,” said Elbie Atkinson, IT manager.

“Continued steady growth made these problems bigger and bigger,” adds Mike Sharpe, a 35-year veteran of the company.

Manufacturing, Cloud Key to OptiProERP decision

The Napoleon/Lynx team considered Epicor, Infor, and Microsoft Dynamics before selecting OptiProERP with SAP Business One. “We chose OptiProERP because of its emphasis on manufacturing,” says Atkinson. “It is also built around SAP Business One, a well-known system, offers mobile applications and a product configurator that can handle our product and pricing complexity.”

When fully deployed later this year, OptiProERP will allow Napoleon/Lynx better inventory control, real-time feedback from its shop floor, improved lead times with production scheduling and planning, and automation of many manual tasks, saving managers and employees countless hours.

“Our three U.S. locations operate independently due to a lack of information,” says Sharpe. “OptiProERP will bring us together allowing us to centralize purchasing, gain insight into inventory and be more efficient operationally.”
